Week number 70-50
Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
In Eindhoven is the only match factory in the Netherlands. It exists for 100 years. Trunks of poplar trees are stripped of their bark and cut to veneer with the thickness of a match. In a machine the piles of veneer are cut, to make the match sticks. These sticks are impregnated and the head is dipped into a liquid pool of potassium chlorate. In another machine the match boxes are made. In al filling machine they are filled and a striking surface of phosphorus is placed on both sides of the box. Each day 80 million matches are produced.
